Notes on Cities in APA Reference Lists
When citing the place of publication in APA references, you should
give both the city and state (or providence for Canada and Australia)
unless the city is well-known. Use the postal state
abbreviations (two capital letters, no periods.) For cities
outside the United States, Canada, and Australia, give the city
and country.
For books published at universities that have the state's name
in the university's title you do not need to include the state in
the publisher's location.
The following cities do not need a state abbreviation or country:
